Latin Restaurant Weeks brings a taste of Latin America to New York City: Special menus and dishes from 50+ participating businesses

NEW YORK — There is no doubt that the flavor of Latin American food can be found in every corner of New York City. For this reason, an event to enjoy the gastronomy of our countries arrives in the Big Apple.

It’s about the event Latin Restaurant Weeks (LRW), Latino Restaurant Week, an event from June 2 to June 16 that seeks to raise awareness among local Latino chefs, restaurateurs, caterers, cafeterias, bakeries and culinary events, while highlighting the diversity of Latin flavors offered throughout the city.

Culinary businesses will feature special dishes and menus showcasing a variety of Latin American/Hispanic businesses. More than 50 participants will join the campaign with the primary goal of increasing the visibility of one of the largest ethnic groups, which is responsible for New York City’s growing economic growth.

The “Buen Provecho” campaign, the equivalent of bon appétit, encourages residents and tourists to expand their palates during the event by dining at one of the campaign’s participating venues. LRW will bring prominence to the Hispanic/Latino regions represented in the New York metropolitan area and serve as a reminder to support local Latino entrepreneurs outside of Hispanic Heritage Month.

Latin Restaurant Weeks will help reinvigorate culinary businesses as they face a new set of post-pandemic challenges, including inflation, rising food costs, and labor retention concerns.

This year’s entrants include an authentic taste of Colombian flavors at Dulce Vida Latin Bistro, tasty Venezuelan staples at Costas-Arepa Bar, and if you prefer fusions, there’s robust Mexican-Dominican fare at El Sueñito Restaurant or Chinese flavors. -Cubans in Calle Dao.

“The summer season in New York is synonymous with spending time exploring the five boroughs of the city,” explains Chavarria. “This is our inaugural year in New York. Collectively, we knew how beneficial it would be to our participating companies if we hosted our 14-day event during one of the most celebrated and culturally rich events in the nation. Our campaign will take place around the same time during the Puerto Rican Day Parade and should create a flurry of sales for culinary businesses.”

Since its first year in 2019, most participating LRW restaurants have experienced up to a 20% increase in diner numbers, as well as increased social media engagement during and after each market’s campaign.
