Last week, the price of electricity in Latvia decreased by 27% – Financial News – Financenet

In Lithuania, on the other hand, the average electricity price decreased by 28% to 32.48 euros per MWh, and in Estonia – by 29% to 32.19 euros per MWh. In the Baltics, electricity prices were affected by capacity flows from Finland and Sweden.

Nord Pool’s weekly average system price was € 1.84 per MWh, the lowest this year due to low electricity prices in Norwegian retail areas. The main reasons were warm weather conditions, which contributed to an increase in the filling of water reservoirs, as well as a 36% increase in the development of wind farms.

Compared to the previous week, consumption in the Nord Pool region increased to 6,405 gigawatt hours (GWh) and production increased to 6,508 GWh.

Last week, the total electricity consumption in the Baltic States increased by 5% to 463 GWh. In Estonia, consumption increased by 10% to 128 GWh. At the same time, consumption in Lithuania remained unchanged at 212 GWh, while in Latvia consumption increased by 7% to 123 GWh.

Last week, total electricity generation in the Baltics decreased by 23% to 228 GWh compared to the week before. In Latvia, electricity generation decreased by 44% to 62 GWh, in Estonia production volumes decreased by 29% to 62 GWh, while in Lithuania it increased by 5% to 104 GWh.

The volume of production against consumption in Latvia was 51%, in Estonia 49%, in Lithuania 49%, but in the Baltic States together 49% of the electricity consumed in the region was produced last week.
