Nine corona patients died last week. That was six a week earlier. The number of hospital admissions was lower, 38 compared to 44 a week earlier.

The number of infections is increasing, especially in South Holland, North Holland and North Brabant. Van Dissel wants people to get tested faster. Now there is a lot of time between testing, test results and warning contacts. Now a large part of the people only get a signal when they already have complaints.

There are now over 330 clusters. These are outbreaks in which at least three people have become infected. The vast majority of people contract corona in a family situation. “It has to be reduced again as soon as possible,” says Van Dissel about the number of corona infections. “Every increase leads to unrest and you want to get rid of that. The strategy is: crush it immediately. ”

Van Dissel calls it “very worrying” that there are problems in Amsterdam and Rotterdam in conducting source and contact research due to a lack of forces that can test people. “It is essential in the current approach.”

Ventilation in schools

When schools reopen, it is important that they adhere to ventilation regulations, Van Dissel said. Critical MPs have many questions about ventilation, now that the schools are about to reopen. According to Van Dissel, RIVM has always considered ventilation important. “Make sure you comply with the building code, it states how often you have to refresh the air.”

Public health director Rigter of the GGD Utrecht spoke with MPs about high pressure at the GGDs. She said that the capacity will gradually increase from 550 FTE to 2000 in the autumn. This happens faster than originally thought, because source and contact research sometimes takes up to twelve hours. “Sometimes people have 100 contacts that need to be checked.” Rigter said that it is being investigated whether defense ‘logistics’ can help with scaling up.

On Wednesday there will be an extra ‘corona debate’ in the national meeting room. The cabinet must then be accountable for the current approach and politicians can come up with proposals themselves. Later that day, the House of Representatives will vote on those proposals.
