The equipment used for these wastes should be gray or gray-labeled, such as ‘other waste’ equipment, and only texts and / or images indicating that masks, gloves and other personal hygiene material waste will be collected on the equipment. It should be ensured that these wastes are collected separately and transported to the temporary storage area and the necessary cleaning process is carried out in a controlled manner by a separate staff member. Waste accumulation, collection, transportation and storage equipment should be preferred, and these equipment should always be kept closed and not affected by external interventions. A bag should be inserted into the equipment so that the collected wastes can be taken from the equipment comfortably and without touching the wastes. Waste bags should not be opened, mixed or combined with small amounts of wastes. After three quarters of waste bags in the equipment are filled, their mouths should be tightly closed and taken into a second bag and taken to the temporary storage area. Attention should be paid to ensure that the places where the waste is temporarily stored is away from the areas of intensive human use such as the entrance / exit, parking lot and sidewalk of the building / campus that does not receive direct sunlight, and that these areas are always kept closed, and precautions not to enter any animals / vermin. It should be. After these wastes are kept in temporary storage areas for at least 72 hours, it should be ensured that they are delivered to the municipality as “other waste” to be managed within the scope of domestic waste ”.

The Ministry explains that personal hygiene material wastes such as disposable masks, gloves, wipes from households and workplaces should be collected in small quantities in tear-resistant plastic trash bags. To minimize the possibility of virus survival on waste, waste bags should be kept in rooms or balconies that cannot be accessed by other people and animals for at least 72 hours. The waste should be removed shortly before the waste collection time and it should be ensured that it is delivered to the municipality as “other waste” to be managed within the scope of domestic waste. Announcements and instructions to be made by municipalities for the collection and delivery of masks, gloves and other personal hygiene material waste should also be observed. The equipment used in accumulation, collection, transportation and storage processes and the areas where these equipment are located should be cleaned / hygienic after each waste discharge. These equipment should not be used for other purposes. Measures should be taken for spillage and / or leachate that may occur during collection, transportation and storage, and in case of pollution, the contaminated surface should be disinfected. It will be useful to use materials such as lime, bleach, disinfectant for surface and area cleaning. Collected waste should be sent directly to landfill or incineration, without manually opening it manually. The personnel assigned with the collection, transportation, processing and disposal of the wastes should be provided to use personal protective materials such as gloves and masks during the work, be careful not to come in contact with the waste, and wear special work clothes during the collection and transportation processes. Attention should be paid to ensure that there is a sufficient amount of disinfectant beside the personnel in charge and to ensure the hygiene and disinfectant of both the equipment and personal materials used. ”
