ADDITIONAL CUSTOMS TAX DECISION APPLY UP TO 30 SEPTEMBER
Some imported products have customs tax. In addition to the import regime decision, the President’s decision was published in the Official Gazette. Accordingly, up to 20 percent additional customs tax will be imposed at varying rates for over 400 items in imports. The decision will be effective until September 30. Subsequently, additional customs duties will be introduced at rates up to 10 points lower.
ADDITIONAL CUSTOMS TAX ON PRODUCTS LIKE TEXTILE, MACHINERY, WIGS
Among the products that will be subject to additional customs tax, there are various items from textile to seat belts, snow plows to wigs, precious ornaments, hoods and ovens.
OBJECTIVE TO REDUCE THE NEGATIVE EFFECT OF VIRUS ON ECONOMY
Additional customs duties with coronavirus mitigate the negative impact on Turkey’s economy and are intended to withstand the increasing pressure from imports in the domestic industry.
On the other hand, according to another import regime decision, the customs tax rate will be applied as 10 percent on reflective films to be imported provided that they are used in solar panels. Customs tax was determined as 10 percent for plastic plates to be imported for plastic card and smart card production. These decisions will be effective until September 30th.
The Ministry of Commerce will be able to issue the communiqués regarding the issues included in the decision, and examine and conclude specific and mandatory situations.
