“Siegfried & Roy” magician Roy Horn is dead. He died on Friday (local time) in a Las Vegas hospital as a result of Covid-19, spokesman Dave Kirvin told the German Press Agency. Horn was 75 years old. Born in Nordenham near Bremen, the trainer and his partner Siegfried Fischbacher were world-famous for their performances with white tigers and lions.

Her career in Las Vegas ended in October 2003 when a Tiger Roy Horn was seriously injured at a performance. Horn was never able to fully recover from the severe blood loss, strokes and brain surgery after the accident.

“Roy was a fighter all his life, even in the last few days,” said Fischbacher. He thanked the doctors and nurses at Mountain View Hospital. They fought “heroically against the insidious virus,” which in the end took Roy’s life. “

Million dollar deal in Las Vegas
Horn had discovered his love for exotic animals as a child in post-war Germany, including a cheetah named “Chico” in the Bremen zoo. He hired as a steward on a cruise ship where he met Fischbacher.

The duo worked their way up with magic and animal tricks. The two came to Las Vegas in 1967, a good two decades later the “masters of illusion” negotiated a million-dollar deal with the “Mirage” hotel in the casino city.
