A major police operation was carried out in Engelburg SG on Wednesday: Officials in full outfit had converted a house on Lindenwiesstrasse. A man had entrenched himself in it and may be armed, police spokesman Florian Schneider confirmed to BLICK. The police received the report at 1 p.m.

After hours of siege, the 50-year-old left the house on his own at around 4 p.m. and put him under police care. Nobody got hurt. It is unclear whether he was actually armed.
