Lanester. Octogenarian dies in fire

The Lorient and Hennebont firefighters intervened on Monday February 1, 2021 shortly after 6.30 a.m. to stop the‘fire of a pavilion located rue Paul-Cézanne in Lanester (Morbihan) where a couple of octogenarians lived. A total of 25 firefighters responded to the blaze which destroyed the ground floor of the house.

Toxic fumes

If they were able to contain the disaster, the firefighters could do nothing to save an 83-year-old woman. She died, while she was upstairs, asphyxiated from the toxic fumes that emerged from the ground floor of the house where the fire broke out.

Her husband, an 82-year-old man, was rescued. He was transported by firefighters to the southern Brittany hospital center in Lorient.
