Landslides block the passage on the Calacalí- Nanegalito and Alóag- Santo Domingo roads

The ECU 911 emergency service reported that from approximately 06:40 on this Thursday, March 11, 2021, the via Calacalí- Nanegalito, due to a collapse registered at kilometer 47 of that road that connects to Pichincha with the province of Esmeraldas, North Coast of Ecuador.

The ECU issued images where it is observed that the large amount of land and weeds that fell on the road block both carriles of that road. Workers with machinery they moved to the area of glide to remove the debris.

The lock has generated a queue of vehicles of cargo, which wait for the passage to be enabled to travel on the road. Until after 07:20, the authorities did not have an estimated time in which the flow of the automotive.

The ECU 911 said the track will be enabled when the works of removal of the material. On this road, the authorities have also not mentioned a possible time when the passage will be opened.

The landslides are produced by the intense rains that have been registered in different provinces of Ecuador. According to the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (Inamhi), the rainfall will continue until next Friday, March 12.
