Michel Agruna is one of the oldest breeders of Landes cows. He knows exactly how to grow the 30 or so calves he has had this year. At 78 years old, he still keeps a nice flexibility. It is perhaps thanks to his past as a retractor and jumper in the Landes racing competitions, as a gymnast in the Paris firefighters, or even earlier, as a passionate kid on a feast day in Bayonne. These events are immortalized in a few photos.

Years of practice then the resumption of a breeding, Michel becomes “ganadero”. He worked with “Intervilles” for 20 years and trains exceptional cows for the Landes racing championships. “We don’t breed for meat. We breed for the bravery and fighting spirit that the beast has in the arena. That’s the only thing that interests us.”, he confides.
Today is the time to take over. The enthusiast will test a calf with Mathieu Noguès, another breeder. It is first necessary to isolate the animal, which is more used to staying away from humans. One year old, the calf already has a strong character.
