Land Owners Insist on Refusing to Remove Walls to Close Roads in Pekanbaru

Pekanbaru – A resident named Sayuti built 2 meter high wall in the middle of the road which he claims is still part of his land. He insisted that he didn’t want to break it down Wall even though asked by various parties.

This was conveyed by Sayuti when he was present at the head of the Perhentian Marpoyan Urban Village. Apart from Sayuti, there were also the subdistrict head, the police, members of the Babinsa, the village head and representatives of community leaders.

Sayuti explained the reason for installing the fence on the road which was claimed to be underground. He said it was done according to the documents in his possession.

“It entered my land, according to the land certificate,” Sayuti said in an open meeting chaired by the Head of Marpoyan Damai, Junaedi, Friday (16/4/2021).

The sub-district head, police and community leaders asked for the wall to be removed because it interfered with residents’ access. Sayuti immediately refused the request.

“Let’s count together,” said Sayuti.

Kapolsek Bukit Raya AKP Arry interrupted Sayuti’s words. He said the party with the authority to measure Sayuti’s land was absent.

“Sir, sir, who gave the boundary of the land from BPN. Yes, we will ask it to re-measure it. Now, how to do this for the Chinese wall, the Berlin wall is opened first,” said Arry.

“So we are looking for a solution together, this fence is public access, it must be opened today,” he continued.

Sayuti still insisted that she didn’t want to dismantle the wall. He also refused that the discussion was held openly.

Previously, Sayuti built a 2 meter wall in the middle of the road. The wall was built because the road was claimed to be the land.

The wall is said to have been standing in the past week. The wall was created after Sayuti was involved in an argument with Transportation Agency officers and motorists regarding the installation of traffic lights near his land.
