Lance Anoa’i has departed WWE, announcing his release on social media Friday morning. The wrestler, signed by the company last November, never officially debuted due to a series of injuries.
Anoa’i’s departure marks the end of a run hampered by misfortune since his arrival. The son of Samu, he had been building a 15-year autonomous wrestling career prior to joining WWE, with appearances in promotions like MLW and Pro Wrestling NOAH. His release comes with a 30-day non-compete clause, allowing him to accept bookings starting in one month.
“I would officially announce my departure from WWE! I didn’t have the best of luck as I arrived! I will not let this stop me from achieving to be great! I’ve worked hard on the indies for 15 years! Now let’s get back to work! 30days Accepting bookings booklanceanoai@gmail.com,” Anoa’i posted.
WWE confirmed Anoa’i’s signing on November 22, 2023. However, setbacks prevented his in-ring debut. Fightful Select reported earlier this month that Anoa’i sustained a second injury while recovering from an initial one, further delaying his progress.
Prior to his WWE contract, Anoa’i appeared on the May 27, 2019, episode of Raw, competing against Shane McMahon. He now seeks opportunities outside of the company, with booking inquiries directed to booklanceanoai@gmail.com.
