In April last year, AvtoVAZ announced its departure from the European market due to new environmental standards Euro 6d. The engines of Lada cars do not meet these requirements, and their modernization would be too expensive. Deliveries of cars from Russian plants continued until the end of 2019 according to previously issued certification documents, and now it became known that the previous supply of imported cars is gradually coming to an end, and soon Lada will finally disappear from European showrooms.
According to Gazeta.Ru with reference to the distributor of AvtoVAZ in Europe, the company Lada Automobile GmbH Deutschland, from the German warehouse of the company the last batch of cars was shipped to dealers in March, and now only a few West are left in stock as standard. In the near future, Lada’s return to Europe is not planned, and the matter is not only the need to modernize the engines, but also the strategy adopted by the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance, which includes the Russian brand. In the Old World, only Dacia will play the role of a budget brand, while Lada will focus on the markets of the CIS, Latin America, Mongolia and the Middle East. AvtoVAZ was engaged in the export of cars to Europe almost from the very beginning, although the company believes that in the long term the Russian brand will have the opportunity to return there.
