Laâyoune: two arrests for alleged involvement in a case of drug trafficking and possession of firearms

Rabat – The elements of the prefectural service of the judicial police of Laâyoune proceeded, Friday, on the basis of precise information provided by the General Directorate of Surveillance of the National Territory (DST), to the arrest of two individuals for their involvement alleged in a case of possession and trafficking of drugs and psychotropic drugs, and possession of a firearm.

The two accused, aged 20 and 34, were arrested aboard a 4 × 4 in the Al Wahda district in Laâyoune, said a statement from the Directorate General of National Security (DGSN), specifying that the Search operations led to the seizure, on board the vehicle, of a hunting weapon, 92 cartridges and 4 casings.

In addition, searches carried out at the home of one of the suspects led to the seizure of 20 bales of chira, the total weight of which is around 493 kilograms, adds the same source.

The suspects were placed in police custody at the disposal of the investigation carried out by the competent prosecutor’s office in order to determine the possible ramifications of this criminal activity as well as the criminal acts which are accused of the accused.

This case is part of the intense efforts made by the services of the DGSN, in coordination with those of the DGST, to fight against all criminal activities, the press release concludes.
