La Traversée de Chartres or the happy nostalgia of the holiday route and its traffic jams

Those nostalgic for the time of summer traffic jams in the towns of the Nationale 10 – there are obviously some in the clubs for old vehicles – strive to recreate this atmosphere. And feel the desire to go back on this old holiday route, as it did when it crossed towns to drop off Ile-de-France residents and others on the Atlantic coast or even Spain.

Failing to be able to crisscross the route as a whole, they are preparing to travel it in its Chartres part, Sunday June 26, and to fill the eyes of those who will cross them with the past.

This crossing of Chartres has become a tradition and is approaching its 6th edition this year. The opportunity for their lucky collectors to get their old mechanics out of the garage… Depending on the edition, between 200 and 300 of them – dating from before 1987, that’s the rule to participate

at this rendezvous – parade all flamboyant bodywork, in the Eurelian capital, according to a well-defined order.

It’s going to be jammed in the streets of Nogent-le-Rotrou this Sunday, June 26

Period tractors will lead the way, followed by pre-war vehicles (C4, B14, B2), then front-wheel drives, 403s, 2CVs and other four-wheelers that had their heyday in the 1950s and 60, which will be followed by beautiful American cars and military vehicles. A parade to catch the eye of lovers of old displacements and old pistons. To all the other curious too.

The public will be able to approach them closely, initially, in the parking lot of the Madeleine shopping center in Chartres, between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. (departure time of the procession). Another point of view, the Place des Épars, where the procession will park around 10:30 am. He will take the road again to the parking lot of the Leclerc hypermarket, in Barjouville, where a friendship drink will await the participants in this parade, around 11:30 a.m.

Organized by Vintage Cars of Beauce, (association which has nearly 200 members for 700 to 800 vehicles), and its many partners, this Crossing of Chartres is a variation of the national day of vintage vehicles organized by the French Federation of vehicles of time.
