La Mâchecroute (Between Rhône and Saône) falls into the water after a power cut

It was the tragedy this morning for passers-by on the Augagneur quay, in the 3rd arrondissement of Lyon.

La Mâchecroute, this legendary monster that Mayor Grégory Doucet wanted to “wake up” for the Entre Rhône et Saône festival which begins this Friday, was installed this Wednesday. The first inhabitants were able to observe this strange head coming out of the water at the end of the day thanks to the visual artist Jacques Rival and his teams who were carrying out tests.

Some liked the mount and even noted a resemblance to Bob Razowski, the iconic character from Monsters Inc. (Pixar). But the appreciation was short-lived since this Thursday morning, when Lyon woke up, the monster had disappeared.

La Mâchecroute has indeed deflated during the night. According to our information, confirmed by technicians on site, he suffered a power cut at 1 a.m. Around 9 a.m. on Thursday, the organizers went around the inflatable structure by boat to ensure that it had not suffered any damage.

This is the case and the temporary work of art should be able to reappear from the Rhône soon. Other tests should take place this Thursday, but the weather conditions and the orange vigilance for thunderstorms could well cause some problems.
