La Jornada – Vaccinated, 1,656 children between 4 months and 6 years in Nuevo Laredo

New Laredo, Tam. Within the sixth cross-border vaccination campaign, more than 1,500 babies, from 6 months to 4 years old, were inoculated, making Nuevo Laredo the first city in the country to carry it out.

During the months of May and June, the Cross-Border Vaccination Program continued at the Juárez-Lincoln and Colombia Solidaridad international bridges to benefit Mexican citizens from Nuevo León and Tamaulipas.

As of June 30, 268,677 Mexican citizens have been vaccinated, of which 163,000 are children between 5 and 17 years old and 1,656 babies between 6 months and 4 years old.

Immunization is carried out in coordination between binational authorities; Carmen Lilia Canturosas, municipal president of Nuevo Laredo; Samuel García, governor of Nuevo León; Dr. Victor Treviño; VARA Health; Customs and Border Protection (CBP), City of Laredo, Nuevo Laredo Customs, Colombian Customs and INAMI.

The Municipal Government, through the efforts of Mayor Carmen Lilia Canturosas Villarreal with Dr. Víctor Treviño, carried out the Sixth Cross-Border Vaccination Campaign in June, which had the purpose of strengthening the immune system of citizens against covid-19 .

In this campaign, Nuevo Laredo made history by being the first municipality where 1,656 babies from 6 months to 4 years of age were vaccinated during June.

2,254 children between 5 and 11 years old, 1,849 adolescents between 12 and 17 years old and 2,072 adults were also vaccinated, resulting in 7,831 doses applied in June.

Cross-Border Vaccination began a year ago and to date, 102,936 doses have been applied to safeguard the health of New Laredoans.

The municipal president highlighted the willingness and ease with which they worked with Dr. Víctor Treviño, to facilitate the biological to vaccinate the population.

“The health of New Laredoans is a priority in our government, we will spare no efforts and efforts to facilitate the covid-19 vaccine to citizens, from babies to the elderly, we have vaccinated more than 100,000 people and we will continue to advance, because the vaccine will give us peace of mind and health during this pandemic, at the same time that it allows us to promote the social and economic reactivation of the city,” said Canturosas Villarreal.
