A little over a year and a half after creating Medeas, a network of young researchers on the scene, the Yucatán collective was selected for the 41st National Theater Show that is held in Mexico City and Morelos from November 25 to December 4.
“We are very excited because in addition to giving the presentation where we will share part of our process as a group, as a collective, we will also have a clinic, which is a laboratory space for meeting more women to ask each other how are the writing processes, how there is the idea of historicizing the processes in the scene, how are the processes of disinhibition, ”explains Liliana Hernández, founder of the network.
On November 25, within the framework of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, they presented the activity called I quote my partner, using that phrase with a hashtag on social networks “because we want to give greater amplification and greater visibility to thought generated by bodies that are represented as women ”.
This is the first time they have been presented in an exhibition as a collective and she expresses her enthusiasm to find that more and more women are committed to amplifying their creations and sharing the content of other women.
Medeas, a network of young researchers on the scene, is a collective that they formed in April 2020 in the midst of a pandemic because “we (Yuly Moscosa, Rosa Aurora Márquez and Liliana Hernández) met with friends to talk about many things and something that crossed us by the same was this process of disinhibition to be able to share the writing ”.
She recognizes that this is a complicated process and with great fear due to all the systematic and historical violence that exists “and feeling accompanied was very powerful” to take that step and begin to spread her writings.
“With all that security we began to create collective writings” and, due to a positive and constant response from the followers, they opened a call called Scriptures of the Scene with which any woman who works in any area of the scene could write about the processes and their reflections from the field in which they operate.
“In addition to thinking of writing as a space where we also confront ourselves and help us to historicize our life on stage, we raise it from a young generational question.”
In particular, they emphasize youth because, in a common way, they find that they are paid unfairly or less than other people only because they “have no experience” and, in general, they find much minimization of their work as young people.
“Research is also those questions that we ask ourselves in the body […] We are always investigating, asking ourselves questions and trying to solve them ”.
