La Comtesse de Paris: “I choose happiness every day”

Established since September 2020 in the Carcassonne region, in the heart of the Cathar Country, the Count and Countess of Paris and their children are adapting to their new life, always as close as possible to nature. A few days before Christmas, Philomena tells us about this daily life marked, for three of her children, by the discovery of school.

How are your first months in the South, where you arrived at the end of September 2020?

The best possible if we consider that we left in a rush, putting everyone, children and animals, in the car, heading South! We had to make some quick choices. We therefore settled temporarily in an old 16th century oven, transformed into a house and charmingly furnished. It belongs to the wife of one of my English cousins, and I already stopped there when I came to see Prince Gaston in his boarding school. This choice has emerged as the most judicious. Gaston is now external – and delighted with this new situation because he did not like sleeping at school. But he really enjoys it, and Prince Joseph, who has an adorable Marseille mistress just as much. Suddenly, they make war on me to leave at 7.15 am each morning, in order to be able to attend the recess of the boarders before the lessons, whereas it does not start until 8.30 am As parents, when a child begging you to go to school, that’s always a pretty good sign.
