Kwan Woo-sang who pays taxes to the end

– The Chinese local government decided to move the super-large Guan Yu statue, which was erected with a construction cost of 28.4 billion won. There have been criticisms that it was a waste of tax from the time of its establishment, but the relocation cost is also insignificant, and it is pointed out that it is a double tax wasted, according to the state-run Global Times of China on the 31st.

According to the media on the day, the city of Jingzhou, Hubei, decided to move the super-large Guan Yu statue in January next year. This is due to the fact that the Ministry of Housing and Urban Construction in China informed the city in October to correct the violation of the regulations related to the Jingzhou Historical and Cultural Protection Plan. The Ministry of Housing and Urban Construction cited the reason that Guan Woo-sang had damaged the city’s appearance and historical value.

This super-large Guan Yu statue was established in 2016 by the Jingzhou Tourism Investment Development Group with the aim of attracting tourists, and it cost 170 million yuan (28.4 billion won) at the time of construction. It is 57.3m, which is equivalent to the height of an apartment on the 20th floor, and weighs 1,200 tons. As the world’s largest Gwan-Woo statue, the length and weight of the Blue Dragon Eonwoldo held by Gwan-woo reach 70 m and 136 tons, respectively.

The transfer costs are also enormous. It was estimated that the cost of moving to the Guanyu ruins, about 8 km away, would cost 155 million yuan (25.9 billion won). This means that there will be an enormous additional cost of construction that is not significantly different from the construction cost.

The Global Times introduces the opinion of a Chinese netizen, saying, “It is foolish to spend an additional 155 million yuan to move (Guan Yu) to another place. You should hold the parties involved legally,” a double waste of tax. He pointed out that controversy is emerging.
