KVM requests postponement of match at Club after 7 positive corona tests | Jupiler Pro League

From the moment that 7 players of the first team test positive for corona, a club may request a postponement. But it is not certain that KVM will get a reprieve this time. After all, only 5 players are involved who were already on the match sheet.

“Of the 10 players who tested positive for COVID-19 last week, 5 are negative after yesterday’s test,” KVM wrote in a press release. “So much for the good news. Unfortunately, Bas Van Den Eynde and Victor Wernersson also took 2 additional positive tests. Both players have no symptoms and are quarantined, as prescribed by the Pro League protocol.”

“This brings the current total to 7 A-core players who tested positive, so the club is making an official request to postpone Saturday’s game against Club Brugge.”

KVM realizes that this is not certain: “According to the Pro League, only players who were already on the competition sheet may be taken into account. There are 5. Nevertheless, KV Mechelen asks to take into account the health risks associated with the very short game preparation for several players returning from quarantine. “

“5 players will return to the squad after their quarantine period. The players group only has 1 training Friday to prepare for the match against the national champions.”

“As always, the health of everyone comes first at our club. We therefore hope that the succession of infections and the changing training contacts within the group will have no further consequences and that the game against Club Brugge can be postponed.”
