The crisis in the United Right appeared after the parliamentary vote on the draft amendment to the law on animal protection. Despite the discipline during the vote, 38 members of the PiS club voted against it, including all members of Solidarity Poland and two of the Covenant, and 15 other MPs from Jarosław Gowin’s party abstained from voting.
Sobolewski noted that the current conflict in the coalition in his opinion, it is not the result of the act on the protection of animals. – It is not without reason that the talks on the new coalition agreement between PiS, Solidarna Polska and the Understanding were protracted. Our coalition partners had exorbitant demands during the negotiations, inadequate to their holdings, Sobolewski said.
– The draft amendment to the law on animal protection turned out to be a “litmus test” of the situation in the United Right. A warning as to how our coalition partners may behave in the future – Sobolewski admitted in an interview with the Polish Press Agency.
When asked about Friday the decision of PiS chairman Jarosław Kaczyński to suspend 15 party deputies As a consequence of the fact that he did not support the amendment and that further similar decisions should be expected, he replied that in the case of several deputies explanatory proceedings were still pending.
On the other hand, when asked about the future of the United Right, he replied that various scenarios were being considered at the moment. – We are prepared for the option of a minority government and for early elections. The final decision will be made by the party leadership, which will meet after the weekend, Sobolewski said.
Joachim Brudziński, MP and PiS vice president, admitted during Saturday’s conversation at RMF FM that “it makes no sense to stay in a coalition in which smaller coalition partners vote in important votes in the Sejm against bills introduced by a larger partner“Asked about the future of the coalition, Brudziński stressed that” today we all realize that the situation is very serious “.
When asked about the chances of possible early elections, the deputy head of PiS assessed that today it is “50 out of 50”. – There will be reflection, responsibility and adjusting one’s appetites to one’s own abilities, the coalition will be permanent. There will be no such reflection, there will be a minority government – he said.
