“Krastu mačs” will be happy with a rich entertainment program this year as well

Although due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the usual format of the basketball tournament “Krastu mačs” will change on August 15 and 16 this year, inviting to watch and sympathize with the games live on LTV7 and on the portal Lsm.lv, the organizers promise that this year as well the game will not miss the emotionally saturated musical program and various other entertainment activities.

The “Coast Match” will take place this year without spectators on site, but will take place with spectators on TV screens, which will of course be a challenge for both organizers and managers, as spectators on site have always been an integral part of the tournament. But despite these changes, we will do everything we can, and again this year we will be happy not only with an intense basketball tournament around the clock, but also with powerful musical performances and favorite competitions, ”says Renārs Zeltiņš, the manager of“ Krastu mačs ”.

As usual, the “VEF Rīga Slam Dunk” competition will open on August 15 at 1 pm “Krastu maču”, in which a representative of Latvia, one of the world’s best dankers Kristaps Dārgais, a Ukrainian danker, will participate and compete for the main prize of 1400 Eur. Dmitry “Smoove” Krivenko, winner of “Quai 54” and “Baku 2015 European Games” from Poland Rafal “Lipek” Lipinsky, as well as Peter Grabo from Poland and Vadim Miller from Ukraine.

At 2 pm, “Krastu mačs” will continue with the “Clean R” three-point throwing competition, where the best Latvian snipers will compete for an equal cash prize: Roberts Blūms, Māris Gulbis, Edgars Lasenbergs and Roberts Freimanis.

The opening show “Dans les rues de Grenoble” will take place at 14:45 under the direction of choreographer Liene Grava. One of the annual leaders of the “Coast Match” – Renārs Zeltiņš – will also take part in it. At 11 p.m., the XI-day basketball marathon will start with the game of the basketball club “VEF Rīga” against the “Ghetto Games” team, where the manager of the Freeport of Riga Ansis Zeltins will participate in the symbolic haul. Guitarist Mārcis Auziņš will perform a musical performance during the half-time of the game, but at 21:30 Singer, participant of the show “Cabaret” Miķelis Putniņš will have a special performance.

At At 22:00 on the basketball court, musicians will compete against the actors, but already at 23 o’clock on the special music stage of AAS “BALTA” singer Patrisha – the first Latvian musician who has signed a cooperation agreement with the music publisher Universal Music.

“I’ve performed in the Coast Match with my songs before, and it’s always been an emotional moment.” However, I must say that this time I am really satisfied and excited about the opportunity to perform with the full concert program! As the planned concerts and festivals have been canceled this summer due to the pandemic, every performance that can be realized during this time is eagerly awaited! I can’t wait to be able to delight tournament participants, sports enthusiasts and fans with my performance! And you know – there will be no surprises either, ”says Patrisha.

August 16 at 11:30 Latvian singer Kato will perform with a musical performance, but at 13:00 for the first time, medics will compete in the square within the tournament.

Before the closing political game of the tournament, which is usually scheduled at 14:00, there will be a “Uniso / Usma” throwing competition, where at 14:30 such basketball players as Gunta Baško, Liene Jansone, Kārlis Rībens, Kitija Laksa, Jevgēnijs Kosuškins and Kristaps Janičenoks.

This year, the “Coast Match” will take place in the most direct sense between the two banks of the Daugava – on the AB dam – on August 15 and 16. The games will be played without spectators in person, but live games will be shown on LTV7 and on the portal Lsm.lv. The activities of the tournament will be complemented by LTV7 program “Sports Studio”, which will be hosted by journalist Reinis Ošenieks, inviting guests to the studio. In person, the participants of the tournament, as usual, will be encouraged and encouraged by the already known leaders of the “Coast Match” – Renārs Zeltiņš, Raimonds Zeps, Andris Bulis and Sandis Miltovičs.

We remind you that “Krastu mačs” is a 24-hour basketball tournament, in which the residents of the right and left banks of the Daugava traditionally participate and compete with each other. In the ten years of the tournament, the overall result is a draw – 5: 5. The winning team will receive a traveling cup for a year, the author of which is the professor of the Latvian Academy of Arts, sculptor Aigars Bikše.

“Krastu mačs” will take place in cooperation with the Freeport of Riga Authority, which has been the patron of this tournament since the first year, Riga City Council, Riga City Council Education, Culture and Sports Department, AAS “BALTA”, basketball club “VEF Rīga”, SIA “Tet”, SIA “Uniso”, environmental service company “Clean R” and A / S “Aldaris”.
