Austria board member Markus Kraetschmer took part in the club conference of the red-white-red Bundesliga on Thursday. He then revealed interesting session details.
One thing is clear for Kraetschmer: “We definitely want to end the season. It’s also about the existence of the club. The biggest catastrophe for us would be if there were no games.” In this exceptional situation, you have to accept that no fans are allowed to be there.
“Ghost games originally punished”
“Ghost games were originally an idea to punish clubs,” said the Austria board. “Now it seems that they can be the bridge, that clubs can survive at all. Football is not like a light switch that I can turn on and off as I want.”
Cup final on May 16?
Another topic that is widely discussed is the question of the license for the next season. “It is no secret that half of the clubs have big problems, so we will change the licensing process. Everyone understands that an inn without income is difficult. That’s the same with the football club.” Kraetschmer continues: “But it is also clear that we cannot give away the licenses, because then the clubs will tip us away next year while playing.”
The Executive Board of Management has a clear idea of when the ball should roll again in Austria. “In Germany it is planned to resume play from May 9th. Status today would be our goal to play the cup final on May 16th. And then start the Bundesliga. Then we could finish the league by the end of June . “
