KPAI asks to give children immunization against measles – ANTARA News Mataram

Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) asked parents to immediately take their children to health care facilities for measles immunization. “It is mandatory for parents to fulfill their child’s health rights by immunizing against measles,” said Deputy Chairman of KPAI Jasra Putra in a statement, in Jakarta, Thursday.

Jasra Putra also asked parents to complete other immunizations for their children so that other extraordinary disease events (KLB) would not occur. “Let’s jointly mobilize complete immunization efforts for children to prevent outbreaks of other infectious diseases. Immunization is very important in providing protection, specific immunity from the dangers of infectious diseases,” he said.

KPAI regrets the occurrence of measles outbreaks, even though measles can be prevented by giving Measles Rubella (MR) Immunization to children. “Measles is a disease that spreads quickly, infects the respiratory tract, can even be fatal to inflammation of the brain,” he said.

KPAI also encourages the Ministry of Health to immediately make efforts to accelerate immunization services and carry out surveillance epidemiology to suppress measles cases. This effort, he said, must involve cooperation between ministries/institutions, such as the Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection, the Ministry of Religion, the Central, Provincial and District/City Level PKK Mobilization Teams and involve all stakeholders.

Apart from that, the regional government, in this case the Health Service, was also asked to immediately find cases suspect measles and reported so that immediately get treatment and further examination.
