KPAD: Nearly a Thousand People in Madiun Regency are Infected with HIV/AIDS

SURYA.CO.ID, MADIUN – Cases of finding HIV and AIDS in Madiun Regency still increasing every year.

During the last three years there were an additional 277 HIV and AIDS patients who were assisted by the Regional Aids Management Commission (KPAD) Madiun Regency.

Or if you add up in November 2021 there are 957 PLHIV (people with HIV and AIDS) who are in the assistance of KPAD Madiun Regency.

KPAD Program and Finance Manager Madiun Regency, Lenny Dwi Ambarsari said that there is still a greater potential for additional PLWHA that has not been found in Indonesia Madiun Regency.

“National estimate Madiun Regency there are 1521 cases while those we are accompanying are still 957 cases. This means that there are more than 500 cases that we have not found and are still on the loose,” said Lenny, Monday (12/6/2021).

The national estimate of the number of PLWHA is updated every 4 years with a number of variables ranging from risk groups, to the PLWHA partners themselves.

More than 500 cases have not been detected because of many things. The first is the lack of mobile visity services.

“Due to this pandemic, our visit to the hospital was also slightly disrupted because the focus was on handling Covid-19,” he continued.

In addition, the emergence of new prostitution locations also makes it difficult for officers to collect data on HIV and AIDS cases.

“In the southern (Mejayan) area, many new locations have emerged, moving from several previous prostitution locations, such as Muneng. They closed these activities by opening stalls,” added Lenny.

Lenny once met a female social worker in the new market area and the stadium that previously operated in the Muneng area, Pilangkenceng District.

“To break the chain of the spread of HIV AIDS, we cooperate with the Satpol PP to control it. After all, what they are doing is illegal,” said Lenny.

“In addition, by controlling it, it can change the behavior of life to maintain health as well,” he concluded.
