Kot said there was an agreement to change the owner of the Diaries, but Kot did not disclose the amount of the deal, stating that it was a trade secret.
He explained that such a decision was made because “together there is strength and together there are opportunities for the print media to survive”.
According to Kota, the change of owner of the “daily magazines” does not currently mean the merging of the editorial offices and the creative staff will work “supporting each other”.
“Dienas žurnāli” belongs to the company “SM investīcijas”, which in turn belongs in equal parts to Jānis Maršāns and Jānis Svārpstons.

Last year, the turnover of “Dienas žurnāls” was 2.249 million euros, but the year ended with a loss of 217,358 euros.
SIA “Izdevniecība” Dienas žurnāli “” was founded in 1997 and its share capital is 900,000 euros. “Dienas mediji” publishes the newspaper “Diena” and the weekly magazine “Sestdiena”, as well as maintains the portal “diena.lv”, while the product range of “Dienas magazine” includes publications “Illustrated Science”, “Illustrated for Juniors”, “Una”, ” Do It Yourself “,” Garden World “,” Health “and others.
