After a week’s break, the Kornwestheim Cougars American Footballers are back in action in the state league. This Saturday at 3 p.m. the team of head coach Andreas Geibel will play against the Bondorf Bulls. The game brings the preliminary decision to the second place in the table, which is currently occupied by the Cougars. Motivation on the Bondorfer side should bring above all that there was the first bankruptcy in 17 matches in Kornwestheim.

However, the Cougars are in good form: They have only lost one of five games, most recently there was a 44:21 victory at the Black Forest Foxes. “We’ll take the good mood with us and we’re well prepared,” said Geibel. Especially since, according to the coach, the injury gaps in the squad have gradually closed again. “It’s going to be an exciting exchange of blows and it remains to be seen how the summer temperatures will affect them,” added the coach.

One thing is certain: if you want to get promoted, you have to beat Kornwestheim first. Only one team has managed to do that this season: the Tübingen Red Knights, who are currently at the top of the table with three wins and no bankruptcy with 6:0 points. The second leg of the Cougars against Tübingen increases on August 5th.
