South Korea’s military said two unidentified ballistic missiles were fired into the open waters of the East Sea, also known as the Sea of Japan.

Hours later, South Korea’s presidential office said it had carried out the first test launch of a ballistic missile from submarine (SLBM).
The missile is reported to have been launched underwater from the submarine Ahn Chang-ho. The Blue House, as South Korea’s presidential palace is called, added that the missile hit its target.
