Korean Air Advances too Volleyball Cup Semifinals as Group B Winner
Yeosu, South Korea – September 18, 2025 – Korean Air secured the top spot in Group B of the 2025 yeosu NH Nonghyup Cup Professional Volleyball Competition, defeating KEPCO 3-1 (18-25, 27-25, 30-28, 25-19) on Thursday at Jinnam Gymnasium. The victory propels Korean Air directly into the semifinals.
With two wins in group play, Korean Air finished ahead of KEPCO (1 win, 1 loss) and Woori Card (2 losses). This tournament serves as a key early-season competition for Korea’s professional volleyball teams, utilizing a unique roster composition including foreign players, Asian quota players, athletes who participated in the recent World Championship, and those on preliminary team entries.
The match saw a hard-fought battle, with Korean Air overcoming an initial set loss to rally and claim the next three. key moments included a tie in the second set off a back attack by Kim Joon-ho and a subsequent service ace by Seo Hyun-il, followed by a direct block against KEPCO’s Kim Jung-ho to close out the set. The third set was equally competitive, with Lim Jae-young securing the win with an open attack and a decisive block against Kim Joo-young.
Kim Joon-ho led Korean Air with 21 points, while Lim Jae-young contributed 17 and Seo Hyun-il added 10. Despite the win, the match featured a high number of attack errors, with both teams recording 29.
Korean air will now face Samsung Fire, the second-place team from Group A, in the semifinals.KEPCO will compete against OK Savings Bank A, the Group A winner, at 3:30 pm on September 19th.The championship final is scheduled for September 20th.
