South Korean Minister Cho Hyun Seeks Cambodia‘s Cooperation in Combating Online scams
PHNOM PENH, Cambodia – South korean Justice Minister Cho hyun met with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet on November 10th to discuss collaborative efforts to eradicate online scams targeting south Korean citizens. Teh meeting focused on strengthening cooperation between the two nations to address the growing issue of transnational crime.
During the visit, Minister Cho also held discussions with Acting National Police Agency Commissioner Yoo Jae-sung and Cambodian Home Affairs Minister Soka. Minister Cho requested that Cambodian authorities prioritize the swift identification and repatriation of Korean nationals involved in online scam operations, shoudl they be discovered during increased crackdowns. He specifically asked Minister Soka to secure new recruits for immediate return to Korea.
The meetings follow the recent launch of a joint task force between Korea and Cambodia aimed at combating online scams and bolstering responses to transnational criminal activity.this increased cooperation signals a commitment from both countries to protect citizens and address the escalating problem of fraud.
