School Trip Incident Injures Students in Drievliet
The Hague, Netherlands – Several students from group 7 of the Koolvleet school in Broek op Langedijk were injured Friday morning in an incident at Drievliet amusement park. According to a spokesperson for Educational Dome Allente, the injuries occurred when a parked bus began to roll in the park’s parking lot around 10:00 AM. The injured children were transported to a hospital for evaluation.
All Koolvleet groups were on a school trip to The Hague when the incident occurred. Following the accident, students and parents who did not witness the event were, after consultation with on-site care providers, permitted to continue enjoying the park. Care providers spoke with the children and supervisors who did witness the incident, and persistent it was safe for them to join the others in the park.
police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the rolling bus. They have notified the parents of the injured children and acknowledged the possibly traumatic impact of the event on witnesses. Victim Support Netherlands is offering free aftercare services to those affected.
Allente confirmed that the bus used for the class’s travel to The Hague was not involved in the accident. Care providers will be available to support the children and supervisors as they depart Drievliet on Friday afternoon, and may accompany them on the bus ride home.
