Komareks: Riga “Dinamo” lineup is very good – Hockey – Apollo.lv – Sports

The Riga “Dinamo” team has failed to qualify for the Gagarin Cup for the previous six consecutive seasons. The goal of the team led by the new head coach Peter Skudra is to finally reach the KHL “play-off” this season.

“The goal is to get into the ‘play-off’. If you look at the team, I think we can do it,” Komarek was quoted as saying in an interview on the KHL website. “There are strong Russians and North Americans here, Latvians are also good players. The team is very good.”

The 27-year-old striker played in Sweden’s Premier League championship last season, representing Malmö’s Redhawks and Lulea. In 39 matches he scored 8 goals and made 14 assists.

During his career, Komarek has played for Austrian and Swedish clubs. He has played in Sweden’s highest hockey league for six years, scoring 110 points in 240 games (38 goals + 72 assists).

Next season Komarek will have his first experience at KHL.

“I want to continue to develop, to show my mastery and strengths in this league as well,” said the Austrian hockey player.

“I like hockey, which is played in KHL. It’s the second best league after the NHL. KHL has a lot of individually skilled players who could also play in the NHL. Every year the players move to the NHL. This is a great league, I’m looking forward to to play.”

Komarek has played in the Austrian national team in 62 games, scoring 15 goals and 24 assists.

“Riga is definitely a more attractive option than the city in the east of Russia, where you are much further away from home. I did not have to choose between many different places, a couple of clubs showed interest, but Riga is an ideal place for me and my family,” Dinamo explained. Komareks.

The Austrian hockey player said that the head coach of Riga “Dinamo” Pēteris Skudra is strict and demanding.

“The coach is very detail-oriented. He’s tough but honest. The level is good and he makes good training sessions. He’s tough, but I think he has to be that way to get a good result.”
