Koeman refuses to give a cent to a distressed Barca

October 31, 2021 – The disappointing performance of FC Barcelona in recent weeks was reason enough for the club management to dismiss Ronald Koeman this week. Barcelona are currently ninth in La Liga, but still have ambitions to compete at the top. The Dutch trainer will receive a hefty premium after his dismissal, but does not intend to relinquish part of it.

Joan Laporta and the rest of the board felt that Wednesday’s 1-0 defeat to Rayo Vallecano was the straw that broke the camel’s back. Barcelona have only won three of their last ten games, making Koeman’s position at the club untenable.

According to Sports Diary the club has to pay Koeman a ‘rotting premium’ of no less than twelve million euros. Since Barcelona is currently in very difficult weather and Barcelona is Koeman’s club, the club management has proposed to lower this amount. Laporta has proposed to Koeman to give him between seven and eight million euros.

However, it got a zero on the claim: Koeman has no intention of handing over a cent to the club that sacked him earlier this week. The main reason for this is that it is simply written that way in the contract. Barcelona played for the first time on Saturday without Koeman on the bench and again they did not win. Despite a goal from Memphis, the draw was 1-1.
