Knowing 5 Types of Diabetes, Some Are Rare! : Okezone Lifestyle

DIABETES mellituss or more familiarly known as diabetes, one of the diseases that many people in Indonesia suffer from.

This disease is a metabolic disease that causes high blood sugar. The hormone insulin moves sugar from the blood to cells in the body to be stored or used for energy. Well, if you have diabetes, your body doesn’t produce enough insulin or can’t effectively use the insulin it produces.

2. Diabetes Type 2: Occurs when the body becomes resistant alias immune to insulin, and sugar eventually builds up in the blood.

3. Prediabetes: Usually occurs when blood sugar is higher than normal, but still not high enough to be diagnosed as type 2 diabetes.

4. Gestational diabetes: Condition when blood sugar is high during pregnancy. The insulin-inhibiting hormone produced by the placenta is what causes this type of diabetes to appear.

5. Diabetes insipidus: It is a rare condition, which is not related to diabetes mellitus. Despite the similar name, this is a different condition in which the kidneys excrete too much fluid from the body.

Each type of diabetes has different symptoms, but in general the symptoms include increased hunger and thirst, weight loss, frequent urination, blurred vision, feeling too tired or extreme fatigue, and wounds that take a long time to heal.
