Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp will miss Sunday’s Premier League game against Chelsea after the club acknowledged a suspicious coronavirus test.
Klopp has mild symptoms and is isolated, Liverpool said on Saturday. Assistant Pepjin Lijnders will be on the bench to lead the team at Stamford Bridge, although three other staff members are also under suspicion of COVID-19.
On Friday Klopp acknowledged that three players, which he did not name, tested positive.
In France, seven Monaco players have tested positive for COVID-19, the club said on Saturday a day before their Cup match.
The match against Quevilly-Rouen, from the second division, is still scheduled for Sunday.
Monaco said that none of the seven players have symptoms of concern and all are isolated.
12 Cup matches will be played in France on Sunday, while champion Paris Saint-Germain will see action on Monday against third-division Vannes.
