Berlin – Czech former president Vaclav Klaus addressed the policies of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) at the German parliament. The strongest opposition party, part of which is being monitored by counterintelligence due to right-wing radical tendencies, invited Klaus on the occasion of the German presidency of the European Union, which will start on Wednesday.

“As we all know, Germany will take over the formal (or nominal) presidency of the European Union in a few hours. But only the nominal presidency. For people in other, especially smaller EU member states, Germany has a permanent presidency,” Klaus said. for celebrations.

Today’s European Union, according to the 79-year-old former president, who spoke to AfD members in a building called Paul-Löbe-Haus next to the historic Bundestag, has proved to be a bad path that does not lead to freedom, democracy and friendly European cooperation.

On the contrary, according to Klaus, the current program of economic recovery after the coronavirus crisis proposed by the European Commission in the amount of 750 billion euros (about 20 trillion crowns), which envisages joint liability for money borrowed on financial markets, is a clear threat to the existence of nation states in Europe and integration. According to the former head of state, the pandemic is just a pretext for enforcing this plan, in fact it is another step towards European unification.

Klaus has also traditionally criticized multiculturalism, feminism or “globalism” as well as the radical changes that are coming during the pandemic. “What we’ve been experiencing in recent weeks – rewriting history and destroying monuments and statues of important personalities of our nations that have never been here before – is a silent revolution that will destroy us. I believe AfD knows all this as well as I do, perhaps even better. , “he said.

Klaus has repeatedly spoken at the invitation of the anti-immigration group in Germany. In the last five years, the formation has fought its way into both the Federal Assembly and the parliaments of all 16 federal states.

At the same time, German authorities are increasingly warning against radical parts of the AfD. For example, in mid-June, counterintelligence in the eastern federal state of Brandenburg began to monitor the local AfD because it was “partly closely linked to right-wing extremist structures.”

At the national level, in March, the Federal Counterintelligence decided to monitor the Nationalist Wing (Der Flügel) within the AfD, because, according to it, the suspicion that it was a group with an extreme right-wing focus was confirmed. Although the wing has formally dissolved in the meantime, this current is still strongly represented in AfD. His policy leader considers counterintelligence to be right-wing extremists.
