A resident of Klaipėda has expressed confusion and disappointment regarding the city’s Sea festival, questioning it’s purpose and the perceived reluctance to “grow up” associated with it. The resident rhetorically asked what the festival, described as “cocoonia,” is truly about, finding it challenging to understand.
In response, another individual, identified as mindaugas from Klaipėda, highlighted recent sea-related events in the city. These include the launch of the Curonian Lagoon Regatta, the departure of historic ships of Lithuania Minor from the Dangė River, a ceremony honoring those lost at sea, and the unveiling of the Meridian on the Dangė.
Elena,a visitor from another city, also voiced her disappointment with the Sea Festival, citing unprofessionalism in its organization.
“As a former director of mass events, I am appalled by the unprofessionalism of the organizers of this festivity. Or tendency to “faint” of the masses. Its main purpose is to flood the city with a chaotic, coco -coconous, psyche. To drown the meaning of the celebration in it. When the elements of the celebration, such as the ancient ship regatta, are overshadowed by the screaming Russian and english songs on the Exchange Bridge. It was miserable to scary. This year, I realized why the real people of Klaipeda are getting stuck during this “celebration”. Or fleeing the city,” Elena commented on the Sea Festival.
The article concludes by acknowledging that criticism can always be leveled at any celebration, suggesting that feedback can inform improvements for future events. The stated purpose of the festival is to invigorate the city, enhance its international profile, and provide a platform for critics.
