Kiril Petkov may be an MP – he has not been a Canadian since August 20

KIRIL PETKOV

The Constitutional Court uploads on its website today all the evidence received in the case of the citizenship of the former caretaker Minister

Kiril Petkov, who is the leader of the new political formation “We continue the change”, can easily run for parliament. This is one of the conclusions that lawyers will most likely make categorically, after today the Constitutional Court uploaded all the evidence obtained in the case of the citizenship of the former caretaker minister.

After the session of the Supreme Court, it will be possible to read the documents sent by the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Justice, the President’s Office, the Canadian Embassy in Romania, as well as the personal explanation of Kiril Petkov himself.

Attached will be his declaration of April 21, 2021, which he signed in his own handwriting that he was only a Bulgarian citizen.

In mid-September, Justice Minister Yanaki Stoilov sent his opinion that in the same April Petkov was both a Bulgarian and a Canadian citizen. This obviously makes the declaration of the Minister of Economic Affairs with false content.

However, there will be no decision on Tuesday, and the date of the final ruling of the Constitutional Court is still unclear and depends on the pace at which the rapporteur, Tanya Raikovska, is working. Those familiar with this case assume that the final will be before the elections. This will clear all questionnaires before November 14.

It is possible that the constitutional judges will declare unconstitutional the decree of President Rumen Radev for the appointment of the caretaker government, but only in the part for Kiril Petkov.

According to documents from the Canadian embassy in Bucharest, which have already been released, the new political leader has not been a Canadian citizen since August 20.
