Before the formation of a new federal government, De Wever and Magnette already have a “bubble” of five parties: N-VA, PS, SP.A, CD&V and CDH. Then they are still 6 seats short to have a majority in the Chamber.
The big question is who will supply those seats: the greens or the liberals. Another meeting with the Greens is planned for next week.
In a brief press release, the king “invites the parties involved to show a great sense of responsibility in order to reach a coalition agreement soon”.
“We urgently need to form a government and we will give our best to make it happen as soon as possible,” said Paul Magnette in a video message.
