King Albert says he is ‘delighted’ that his daughter Princess Delphine has been received by his son, King Philip. “My wife and I are delighted at the King’s initiative, the beginning of better times for all of us and especially for Delphine.”

The Palace announced on Thursday that King Philip had a meeting with his half-sister. In a press release it was briefly said that ‘this bond will develop further within the family’.
His father now agrees in a concise statement. “I fully support the communiqué released by the King and Princess Delphine and share the rationale behind this message.”
At the beginning of this year, Albert communicated through lawyers and very coldly that he no longer opposed the statement that Delphine is his daughter. Albert had previously announced that he would accept the latest judgment of the Court of Appeal, which confers on Delphine the title of Princess of Belgium and also awarded her the surname of Saxe-Coburg. He merely admitted that she was his daughter when he could no longer deny it due to biological evidence.
It is clear that King Albert has now wanted to send a positive signal. The tenor is different now than at the beginning of this year, but what the press release means in concrete terms remains a mystery. It is not clear whether there will be a meeting between Albert and his daughter after all.
