The company’s goal will also be sustainable development. KGHM wants to achieve it by building its own production capacities from low-emission sources.

W 2030 r. the company plans to produce enough energy to satisfy at least half of its own needs. It also wants to reduce CO2 emissions from electricity consumption by 1 million tonnes of CO2.


The copper company also plans to remain in the top three silver producers in the world. The goal is to produce approximately 1,200 tonnes of silver per year.

From the KGHM announcement, we also learn about the main assumptions of the company’s budget for 2022. The company announced that in 2022 tangible capital expenditures will amount to PLN 2 835 million, and other capital expenditures – PLN 202 million. In 2022, KGHM plans to produce 392 thousand. tonnes of copper in concentrate and 585 thousand. tons of electrolytic copper. It also assumes the sale of 583 thousand. tons of payable copper.

Decarbonization and Coronavirus

The company’s previous strategy covered the years 2019-2023. A lot has changed since then: in front of the company there are new goals related to pandemic coronavirus and the need to implement the decarbonisation process and commitment to climate protection. These are the aspects that the company is to focus on.

KGHM also wants to focus on securing access to the raw material base for future copper production, but also to work towards the development of mining capacities in the area of ​​other metals and mineral resources.


Therefore, KGHM adds the fifth pillar to its strategic development directions. Energy comes to flexibility, efficiency, ecology and e-industry.
