KG Mobility Innovates SsangYong Models with New Design and Logo

The new owner of the SsangYong car company is innovating the existing portfolio of models, from which the old logo is gradually disappearing.

The SsangYong brand was looking for a buyer for a long time, which eventually became the KG Mobility group. At the beginning of the year, the company announced the name change of one of the oldest South Korean car companies, Ssang Yong, which is now called KG Mobility. New and existing models are thus slowly leaving the old markings and getting new ones.

KG Mobility Tivoli: Facelift and improvements

Sometimes the change is minimal, associated only with a new designation, but in the case of the Tivoli compact SUV, the company decided to combine it with a facelift. After all, the model has been on the market since 2015, while in 2019 it already underwent one minor modernization. This year’s should be more pronounced.

The KG Mobility Tivoli thus receives a modified nose, which has a smaller upper radiator grille with a small Tivoli inscription and a more prominent lower radiator grille with aluminum decor all around. The light modules apparently remained original, as did the rest of the bodywork.

In the wheel arches we see newly designed 18″ alloy wheels, but the thresholds and the lower part of the rear bumper should also be updated. SsangYong company logos and its markings have completely disappeared from the exterior. Instead, across the fifth door we see a bold Tivolo inscription, and in the lower right corner is a discreet KG Mobility label. This is the only reminder of the new brand.

New design, equipment and powertrain

Behind the steering wheel, which still adorns the old SsangYong logo, we see a 10.25-inch instrument panel display, while in the dashboard there is a 9-inch multimedia system screen. Both displays probably come from the original version. Under the infotainment, however, there is a new touch panel ventilation and the seats have received new upholstery.

As part of the safety equipment, the modernized Tivoli model should offer up to seven airbags and 14 assistance systems. By the way, the extended model Tivoli XLV/Grand was also supposed to undergo the same modernization.

A choice of two petrol engines

Under the hood can be one of two non-electrified powertrains. The basis is a 1.6-liter atmospheric four-cylinder, which offers the highest output of 93 kW and 155 Nm of torque. The alternative is a turbocharged 1.5-liter engine with an output of 120 kW and 260 Nm of torque. Both engines are mated to a six-speed automatic transmission and can drive one or, optionally, both axles.
