KFT plays its 40th anniversary album at the House of Hungarian Music

According to the plans, we will perform all ten tracks of the album, and we are also preparing for surprises. The event takes place on the initiative of the House of Hungarian Music, it will be exciting to play in this special space for the first time

– said András Márton, KFT’s leader and drummer, to MTI.

The concert is part of KFT’s (re)presentation concert series of the album A38, which started in 2012, but this is the first time that a previous album (after 2013) is being performed for the second time.

The Message from the elevator/The hairdresser was released as KFT’s second studio album in 1983. It consists of two independent units, with many songs – in addition to the title tracks, for example, the How cruel love is; My wallet; The girl who isn’ts – which has since become a classic.

András Márton recalled that they wanted to make a different kind of record than the 1981 debut, Macska az út was.

In many ways, it was a raw, instinctive material, the Message… became much more chiseled and developed, its sound is very different from it. Subconsciously, the exciting, creative, new-energy music currently present in the world is always an influencing factor, this record may also contain traces of external influences, for example the band Police.

– He told.

1983, that is Message from the elevator/The hairdresser the year of its release was an exciting time for KFT, as they toured Cuba as Zsuzsa Koncz’s backing band, and in collaboration with István Márta released an experimental single under the name WYX.

The KFT wants to acoustically structure the early summer concert a little differently than usual, which is made possible by the unique equipment of the hall of the Hungarian Music House.

It can be interesting if the speakers are placed not only frontally, but at different points, and in addition, the glass wall or the background curtains offer an exciting game with the scenery.

In addition to concerts, KFT also likes to connect with the venue in other ways, making use of its features. This is how they came up with the idea of organizing an exhibition, to which the organizers of the Hungarian Music House were receptive.

We assessed which areas of the building we could use to present our old stage costumes, posters, photos, video recordings and other related things from KFT’s more than forty-year history. I keep a lot of objects at home, I took care to keep them intact, but sometimes they simply crumbled to dust over time

explained András Márton.

The KFT exhibition will be on display for two weeks from May 26 at the House of Hungarian Music.

He noted that some of the old instruments, for example II. Miklós Lengyelfi’s electric bass and András Márton’s drum equipment cannot be exhibited because they have been playing on them ever since.

The band – whose best-known songs include Africa is in Balaton summer – has made eleven studio albums so far, the last one was released in 2008 The Doll fights back volt.

The band is currently working on new songs – Te vagy is already played at concerts – and new songs and a studio album are expected to be released this year.

In the past decade and a half, KFT has also performed in the Budapest Sportarena, the Müpa and the Opera House.

In KFT, András Laár sings and plays guitar, Tibor Bornai sings and plays keyboard instruments, II. Miklós Lengyelfi plays bass and András Márton plays drums.
