The relationship between Kevin Sanjaya and Herry IP has been in crisis for several years. However, tensions between the two sides peaked after the Indonesia Open 2022.
Kevin, who had a duet with Marcus Fernaldi Gideon, was eliminated in the round of 16 of the Indonesia Open 2022, representing Korea Kang Min Hyuk / Seo Seung Jae last June.

The 27-year-old athlete thought Herry IP had made unpleasant comments in the media. He did not accept Herry IP’s treatment which was considered inappropriate as a head coach.
Recently, Kevin trained separately with other male doubles under the care of Herry IP. The trainer nicknamed Fire Dragon also answered questions from the media as to why Kevin was no longer being trained by him.
Quoted by Antara on Monday (26/9), Herry IP pointed out that Kevin no longer wanted to be coached by him. Therefore Kevin and his partner Marcus are temporarily led by assistant coach Aryono Miranat.

“He said [Aryono Miranat], Kevin is no longer suited to practice with me. If you’re not feeling well, you don’t have to practice with me, ”said Herry IP.
On CNN Indonesia, Kevin bluntly revealed why he didn’t want to be trained by Herry IP. Kevin admitted that he disagreed with Herry IP’s attitude that he did not discuss internal issues directly and instead leaked internal issues to the media.
“Yes, as an insider you should speak to us directly. It doesn’t solve the problem at all but instead speaks to the media. As an insider and coach or being called a parent, I don’t think that’s natural. It’s not appropriate,” Kevin said.
Kevin currently admits that he is awaiting the PBSI decision. He is willing to accept all the consequences of the problem with Herry IP.
The conflict that occurred between Kevin and Herry IP has become in the spotlight among Indonesian badminton lovers. Netizens on social media were split in three after learning the root of the conflict between Kevin and Herry IP.
Some network users support Herry IP and others have sided with Kevin. While the rest hope that the two warring sides can solve the problem without leaving PBSI.
