Ken Hensley, singer, songwriter and former keyboardist of rock band Uriah Heep, died suddenly on Wednesday night while working on a new solo album. The seventy-five-year-old musician, who was one of the main authors of Uriah Heep’s songs, is known in our country mainly thanks to the song Lady in Black.

Hensley’s death was reported by his family. “His wife Monica was by his side until the last moment,” the rocker’s brother wrote on Facebook.

Hensley co-wrote most of Uriah Heep’s songs, including the biggest hits Look at Yourself, Easy Livin ‘and the aforementioned Lady in Black. He also sang it himself, because the then singer of the band David Byron did not like the song. Later, she experienced a number of cover versions, for example in our country from the band Arakain with lyrics by Aleš Brichta.

After ten years in the band Uriah Heep, Hensley embarked on a solo career and also participated in a number of other music projects.

His death came less than two months after the death of another of Uriah Heep’s former members, drummer Lee Kerslake. “With the hardest heart, I share the news that Lee Kerslake, who was my friend for 55 years and who was the best drummer I’ve ever played with, lost his battle with cancer. He died in peace, but I will miss him terribly,” Hensley said at the time. .
