Kaufland’s 50 Crown Voucher for Waiting in Line – Don’t Miss the Fine Print

In Kauflands, they have a sign posted at the checkouts that reads: “We value your time”. It announces that every customer who has waited in line at the checkout for more than five minutes will receive a voucher in the amount of fifty crowns as compensation for the information. Readers pointed this out to us. That’s why we went to the store.

There were two readers and both agreed that they missed the miniature text on the said sign. He became fatal to them.

In really small print, almost unreadable for older people, there is an addendum under the notice that the offer is valid provided that not all cash registers are open. Our two readers asked for fifty crowns in vain. The cash registers were said to be all gone.

We have repeatedly experienced in practice what such a bonus handover to a customer looks like during Saturday mornings, when long queues of customers with full shopping carts form in front of the cash registers.

We waited in line at the checkout for over ten minutes.

It is better not to mention the fact that you are going to collect the promised bonus in front of the cashier, as we have always encountered a negative reaction from her. She is said not to be praised by the management for waiting in line for a long time, although she is understandably not to blame as a cashier.

The lady at the information desk will then ask you for the cash register number for which you have been waiting for more than five minutes. Alternatively, he wants to see the receipt where the number is stated. If you don’t remember it or didn’t keep the receipt, you’re probably out of luck.

This happened to the buyer before us. He searched his pockets but found none. He said he didn’t even marry her. He was not entitled to the reward.

The feelings of handing over the bonus are also not exactly rewarding. Imagine an unpleasant office worker and a kind of inconspicuous way of framing. At times we felt that we should still pay for this “service”. In the end, we couldn’t give up and left Kaufland with a 50 kroner discount for our next purchase.
