Actress Katie Lowes, known for her role in the hit ABC series Scandal, is envisioning potential storylines for a second season of the Netflix thriller Hunting Wives. While her return to the show remains uncertain, Lowes has several ideas about wich of her former Scandal co-stars could join the cast – and what roles they might play.
‘Scandal’ Alums for ‘Hunting Wives’ Season 2
In an exclusive interview with US Weekly,Lowes,42,highlighted Bellamy Young as a perfect fit for the show. “Bellamy Young would be terrific [on the show]. She is Southern Belle in the area and she would be outstanding,” Lowes stated. Young is best known for her portrayal of Mellie Grant in Scandal.
Lowes, who played Quinn Perkins in Scandal, was asked if she thought Kerry Washington’s character, Olivia Pope, could “fix” the dynamics within Hunting Wives. Her response was skeptical: “I’m like, ‘I don’t think so.’ We never saw the Olivia Pope going to other places.” Though, she believes Jeff Perry, who played Cyrus Beene, would be an excellent addition. “He could be in the Governor’s race opposite Jedd Bank. He would be the perfect monster in the monster,” she suggested.
Lowes also proposed a role for George Newbern, who played Charlie in Scandal. “George Newbern, who played Charlie, is from Arkansas, and he should be a high church member with Jill’s husband.Just bring everyone. Those Scandal actors, they are the best and they could do anything,” she enthused.
‘Hunting Wives’ Plot and jill’s Fate
Hunting Wives, which premiered in July, centers on Sofia (Brittany Snow) as she becomes entangled in the world of Margo Bank (Malin Åkerman). sofia befriends Margo and her social circle, only to discover their risky secrets and become a prime suspect in a shocking murder.
The series is based on the novel of the same name by Maija Koba. Interestingly, Lowes’s character, Jill, is a killer in the book. Viewers were surprised when the show killed off Jill before the novel’s conclusion.
“I knew when I read Jill dying, so I really put it on it,” lowes told US Weekly. “I’ve died many times so I was just psychic. I was like: ‘I [gotta] go big or go home.’ I [got] to be one amazing season, Jill’s season is as smooth as I could and I loved it.”
Did you know? Maija Koba’s novel provided the inspiration for the series, but the showrunners made significant changes to the plot, including altering Jill’s fate.
Lowes on Adapting to the TV Version of jill
Lowes admitted she had to adjust her understanding of the character as the show diverged from the book. “I started reading the book and I had to put it down quickly when we started taking pictures. I started to get confused about Jill that existed in the book and Jill [showrunner] Rebecca Shower developed with the show,” she recalled. “I had to lower the book and just focus on this story and work I did with this version of jill.”
Knowing that Margo was ultimately revealed to be the murderer and Jill was killed off, Lowes decided to focus solely on the television adaptation.”Well, let’s focus just on the TV show and do it to make my brain interfering,” she explained.
Hunting Wives is currently streaming on Netflix.
