Cech managed to hug the ball, Hunt could not avoid Cech’s head. Cech’s head hit Hunt’s leg and then hit the ground. Cech then collapsed.

Cech had to be out for one year to recover. The doctor even said, Cech nearly lost his life.

Once back on the field, Cech also wears a special protective helmet. It’s actually called the scrum cap.

The International Rugby Council (IRB) provides fairly clear rules for this scrum hat material. The material is required to be soft and thin while stiff materials such as plastic and buckles are prohibited. This is very different from the helmet or armor worn in ice hockey, which is a rigid and hard material.

The parts of the hat are prohibited from being more than one centimeter thick in an unstressed condition, and no parts have a density of more than 45 kg per cubic meter.
