Karen Doggenweiler’s mommy beat covid-19 this week

One of the slogans of the confinement is “stay at home”, forcing Chileans to physically separate themselves from their families and friends for safety. And as it is known that this bug does not distinguish age, gender or social status, even the famous have had difficult moments.

This is the case of Karen Doggenweiler, as the entertainer lived a complex family moment upon learning that her mother, Silvia Lapuente (77), was one of the positive cases of Covid-19 in the country. Mind you, she won the battle, getting discharged on Tuesday of last week.

“He had difficulty breathing and immediately warned us, because it could be a coronavirus. She is hypertensive, had a heart attack and is chubby, so she is at high risk, ”the entertainer told La Cuarta, more relieved after the bad time.

– How did you experience the disease? She was always calm, safe, confident and with all the faith that she was going to heal. I think her good spirits and inner strength helped her a lot.

The most difficult for Karen was being away from her mother and not being able to care for her during the complex illness. “I missed her very much, as so many compatriots have had to be away from their loved ones and who have not been able to take care of them,” said the entertainer.

And he added: “No one knew how my mom was going to evolve. She had Covid pneumonia, the diagnosis was complicated. We are going out little by little. Her lungs are fine, her bronchi are still a little clogged, but she continues to fight to be better every day.

– How was it to face the situation? When they give you the news it is very scary. It is impossible not to think of those who continue to fight for healing, of so many who require urgent attention, of those who are far away and of the thousands who mourn the death of their loved ones. The uncertainty is great and we all want this to happen soon.

– I imagine that one of the first things you will do when the pandemic passes will be to see it … Yes, it will be so nice to be able to hug her with my sister. My mom is strong, a fighter. She said she wants to walk and dance, and that’s how it will be. Hopefully it happens very soon.

Technology

One of the main ways to keep families connected is through social media. And in the case of Karen and her mom, it was also very helpful. “To stay in contact we use video calls, text messages, conversations in applications. My mom is already an expert and she even forwards hundreds of videos, photos and even the latest stickers ”, explained Doggenweiler.

– It beats technology. Yes, although sometimes it seems that the recipient is wrong, because I get some videos that could blush even the most progressive, hahaha.

Video calls help a lot … Yes, we even celebrated Marco’s birthday in Zoom with a nice “zoompleños” with Fernanda, Manuelita, my in-laws and my mom. All together, despite the physical distance.
